Weatherford Art Association Celebrates September Artists of the Month
The Weatherford Art Association (WAA) proudly announced the winners of its September Artist
of the Month competition, highlighting the creativity and talent of its local artist members.
The monthly competition allows WAA artists to showcase their work while competing for first-,
second-, and third-place honors. Selected pieces are displayed throughout the community at local
Parker County businesses and municipalities, giving residents and visitors the opportunity to
experience a wide variety of artistic styles and mediums. First-place winners also advance as
candidates for the prestigious Artist of the Year award, which is determined by a membership
vote each June.
First Place was awarded to Dale Smith for her oil painting “White Pelicans.” Inspired by the
hundreds of Pelicans that are on Eagle Mountain Lake in the winter. Dale perfectly caught the
colors and reflection in the water of the moment. Dale’s winning artwork will be exhibited at
Hudson Oaks City Hall throughout September.
Second Place honors went to Wendy Ray for her oil painting “Master’s Apprentice.” Wendy
caught a picture of a street artist in Barcelona letting a young intrigued tourist paint alongside
him on the canvas. Once back in the US she recaptured the moment in this piece. You can see
Wendy’s painting at Worth Credit Union on South Main in Weatherford.
Third Place was awarded to Bailee Weger for her acrylic painting “Summer Night.” This
painting encompasses the stillness and comfort of warm summer nights. Bailee’s artwork will be
on display at First Bank Texas on Palo Pinto in Weatherford.
The Weatherford Art Association is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to promoting
the arts and supporting arts education within the community. In addition to exhibitions, WAA
hosts monthly artist demonstrations designed to encourage learning, creativity, and artistic
growth among its members.
Monthly meetings are held at the Weatherford Senior Center, located at 1225 Holland Lake
Drive, from 6:00 to 7:45 p.m. on the fourth Monday of each month, except December.
